Gee, the internet works great in this country. I logged right in onto server, and now I am fresh meat for the other players.
A couple of questions.
Am on the red or green team? How can I tell? I empty a clip into a green guy, no effect. Does that mean I am on the green team?
How do I set a claymore? The seven key does nothing.
Is there a server for use NOOBS?
Uniforms.

Mac.
I suspect all the other players are moving and spinning so quickly because they are on game consoles? Given that, and the fact the game does not support game pads I tried at Best Buy, do I have no hope?
OK, so I hit “5” and I get the detonator for the C-4. When I hit "fire: the hand clicks the detonator. How do I plant the 5 charges I supposedly have?
I know nothing about the Mac stuff or that business. Check the keyboard mapping? PC can’t play with Mac (I don’t think), but they can’t play with the console folk.
Obviously, you should get a game console for shooters as quickly as possible, as you’ll have a much greater accuracy and speed advantage if you’re playing with two thumbsticks, rather than with a keyboard and mouse.
Or, if you’re being serious, check the control settings and change them to your liking - I don’t recall how selecting explosives worked, but when you have the actual charges selected, it’s just Fire to plant them.
And you’re always on the green team, which is why red guys won’t show up until you’re near them or already firing. Red = enemy.
Also, you’re behind. We’re on Call of Duty 5 now.

CoD 5 looks to be the same flop CoD 3 was. Basically they’ve just reskinned CoD 4 with WWII themes, that’s about it. Oh, and there’s a flamethrower. Save your money and stick with Modern Warfare.

(I just realized you are on a lap top…if you dont already have a mouse get one or you do indeed have no hope. mouse = steering, aiming, and firing and short of your eyeballs there is nothing faster or more accurate. other hand is for movement and weapon selections.)
you are evidently new, you will die a lot, if you play the single player for at least a few missions it will help you immensely with the locations of different buttons for weapons and stuff.
remap the keys to a place you prefer, its rare that the games default layout is the one you would use
kick ass, take names, and be sure to stock up on bubble gum.
I have found the best tactic for me is to lay low and blast people as they come up the stairs, through the door or whatever.
Everyone is right that keyboard and mouse is the best control … BUT … if you want to be an abomination like me, you can use an Xbox360 controller with your PC just fine. Some games have built in support for it, and for others, I use an app called Xpadder which maps keyboard input to the controller. I played all the way through COD4 with it (and many other games).
Couldn’t disagree more. Call of Duty 5 is the game that Call of Duty 4 wishes it were (subject matter of the game, notwithstanding).
In the interest of self disclosure: I haven’t played through, nor do I intend to play through, the campaign mode.

For what it’s worth, you can be active and still kick ass.
To plant charges, use the right mouse button with the detonator (5) selected. To detonate them, left click.
The multiplayer game in CoD 5 may be superior to CoD 4, being essentially a reskinned version with more time to make some improvements, but the single player campaigns in CoD 4 are legendary. For CoD 5, it’s utterly meh, shiny intro graphics aside.
Sounds like you’re new-ish to computer shooters. As was said before, mouse and keyboard are THE best controllers for FPS games. If you play on a laptop, I wonder if you couldn’t buy a full-size keyboard to plug in for gaming. USB keyboards are under $20 for the PC(again, I never owned a Mac). It might be more comfortable to game with. They’re more hassle to travel with, but if you only play at home, and maybe at hotels on the road, it shouldn’t be a big deal.
I don’t know about the Mac mouse situation, but a good mouse is also helpful for gaming. For the PC, some good gaming mice are the Logitech mx510 & mx518. I just ordered a Logitech G5 to replace my 3-year-old mx510.
Finally, if you’re new to PC gaming, you probably aren’t up on keyboard setups. Get used to the WASD key cluster for movement. When I was new to PC gaming, I tried like heck to find a controller to use, then tried using the arrow keys :smack: . Finally, I bit the bullet and committed to learning to using WASD. Took a month or so before I was comfortable, but it was the best thing I could’ve done.

I suspect once you start using a mouse you will notice a significant improvement in your performance.
Actually it’s Call of Duty: World War, not COD5. Numbered COD games are generally, and rightfully, reserved for the Infinty Ward team, not the Treyarch hacks. If you wanna really get right down to it, we’d technically be on something like COD6 or COD 10 depending on if you include the offshoots.
Mind you I haven’t played COD:WW, but COD 3 sucked compared to 2, and COD United Offensive sucked compared to original COD, and that’s not even getting into said offshoots (COD Finest Hour, Big Red One, Roads to Victory, and World at War Final Fronts). At this point I pretty much only play COD games that are made by Infinity Ward, the creators of the series and the guys who should rightfully be making anything and everything COD
