Health benefits to drinking breastmilk?

I know this subject has been mentioned before, but I was reading the San Jose Mercury news this morning and they were talking about the potential benefits breastmilk may have for adults, particularly adults who are either sick or fighting cancer.

Is there any basis for these claims? Might we see breastmilk marketed in the future as a health beverage?

The article says point blank:

The pros and cons are laid out well in the article. Pro: breastmilk has an complete set of nutrients and can help the immune system. Con: the mother’s diet and health can be reflected in the milk she produces.

It’s an interesting idea, especially if the milk can be sterilized or otherwise processed first. People in desperate situations have tried much more dangerous and much less potentially helpful things. Breastmilk with chocolate sauce beats the hell out of laetrile.

Well, depending on the delivery system I hear it can elevate the mood as well as cure certain types of temporary impotence.

I second the motion

Nay. I don’t think I want milk coming out when I am playing with the ‘girls’.
