When you reach a certain level of responsibility and authority, they are the same thing. Hillary Clinton saying X carries far more weight than the junior assistant campaign volunteer from Skokie saying X, and she knows it. She’s perfectly aware of the weight her words carry, so it is ultimately her responsibility to make sure that what comes out of her mouth is truthful, and that her staffers understand the importance of truthfulness as well. She is fully aware that everything she says will be reported in the papers and TV, and seems more than happy to use them to get her message out. Shoddy fact checking for a person of her stature is simply willful negligence.
If it makes you feel better, replace the word “lie” with “fail”. She failed on this issue.
p.s. I’d also like to agree with those who point out that being sloppy with the truth will eventually alienate the people you want to trust you. The “War on Drugs,” for example, cried wolf for so many years with horror stories of death by pot, now that there’s a drug that actually lives up to the hype (meth), nobody believes it.
I’m not refusing them care. Have I helped? Yes, I’ve donated to the Darfur Relief Fund. Is there no middle ground? Are the only two colors in your world black and white?
Yup. Disagreeing with it the idea that forcing someone to undergo an unnecessary life threatening procedure =/= supporting amending it. The second we decide who gets care and who doesn’t based on their ability to pay is the day the AMA finally goes too far.
You are the one practically calling me a monster because I do not think people should be forced to help others. If doctors and hospitals want to make the free choice to help, more power to them. I am saying they should not be forced to help by the government.
That is a nice middle ground: Help if you, but we will not force you to help.
No, you said they should be refused care. And I didn’t “practically call [sic] a monster.” I mocked you. If I thought you were anything but a troll and were actually serious, I’d call you a monster.
Most of them should be refused care; they have nobody to blame for their situations, but themselves. They should have been out preparing for a rainy day. Now, they are sick and want someone else to pay the bill by force. Fuck 'em.
See, this is what I’m talking about. How can I possibly take you seriously? Even guys with 2 1/2" dicks don’t hate the world this much. Are you sure you have one?
You think it is a joke to say that people should not be forced to help others? For the same reason we do not force somebody to help a drowning child, we should not force people to help a child dying of cancer.
Oh, plenty of people disagree with me and are serious about it. And make cogent, intelligent arguments against what I say. You’re just not one of them.
So, 2 1/2 inches - if you don’t believe in providing children with medical care, I assume you also don’t believe in providing kids with an education. So, we may as well shut all the public schools down, because parents should just pay for their kids education.
Oh wait, that would leave you out of a job wouldn’t it. No more complaining about teaching for you! Hope you have a good rainy day plan yourself.
