Heart "Thumps" during Exercise

Hi,

When I am walking on my treadmill (2.8mph) all of a sudden my heart will “jump” or “thump”. It has startled me quite a few times. I was wondering whether I should be worried about this occurence.

Thanks,

Free medical advice dispensed on a message board is worth less than what you pay for it. If it concerns you, call your primary care physician to discuss it.

See Otto’s comment.

Having said that, it is a common phenomenon to have what is called a ‘premature ventricular contraction’, a generally harmless arrhythmia or “skippped beat” which may feel more forceful than normal. With some people, these happen more during exercise than at other times. But everyone has them at one time or another.

However the best way to know what is going on with your heart is to discuss things with your doctor.

doodles. Glad to have you on the board. Hope you stay.

I’ve locked the thread, because it’s looking for a medical opinion about something that could be serious. If you had been asking about a minor rash, I usually let it go. I was just waiting for you to get a reply from one of our resident MD’s. And Qadgop didn’t let me down.

Otto also gave the best advice you can get from us laymen–see your doctor and don’t listen to amateurs on a message board.

Any further replies would likely be repeats of the above two.
