Hee-haw, y'all. The 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary

Actually, we were talking about that, and this is wrong.

The President has a lot of power. If the dems can get close in the Senate, say 48, the President can makes offers to or put pressure on several wavering GOP senators. “Ypur taxpayers really want that new xxxxx, dont they?” “I hear your brother in law wants to be a Ambassador”?

But we need to gain a few seats. We cant lose any.

Governors are Do-ers. Senators are Talk-ers. Maybe even Tweet-ers.

Talk, talk, tweet, tweet, rant, rant. That’s what we’re about these days. That’s what the people want. Get with the 21st century, you … Slacker!

Yes, of course. Mea culpa!

Okay, but what if we don’t really call it “reparations”; what if we call it the Equal Opportunity Advancement Act of 2021 or something like that?

I mean, how else do you explain the absence of Gov. Bullock on the debate stage while candidates like…Marianne Williamson make the cut? Jee-zus, our politics are messed up.

Marianne Williamson is still in the race? Jee-zus indeed.

ETA: Any sitting governor or senator (or former VP) should automatically qualify. Then make whatever cuts you need from the rest.

Sure. Just dont give blacks the idea the govt is gonna cut them a $1000000 check, because as soon as that idea gets out, millions of scams will appears and when that check never comes, people will get mad.

Bullock joined the race late and he’s from a very small state population wise. Williamson is very well known for her books.

I literally had never heard Williamson’s name before the debate names were listed. And I watch PBS NewsHour every night.

If a sitting governor can’t hit the thresholds that even Williamson and Yang can hit then they have no business running for president.

It is bar that anyone with even long shot aspirations should be able to meet, especially given the advantage of being a governor.

I literally never heard of her until this thread. I just googled her. Never heard of her books either. Nonetheless, I wish her well.

I would not expect her to get mentioned on that high brow type of news show. She is more likely to get mentioned in People magazine. Her books seem to be aimed mostly at women.

another obscure guy enters the race Joe Sestak

So name recognition is what’s most important. How many of the fifty Governors can the average American name?

Kim Kardashian is 38 years old and a citizen. Is she The One? Howard Stern? Dennis Rodman?

I think one problem is the incredibly large field. There are just too many people running.

And screw people like Sestak - and De Blasio for that matter. Joining a race when you already know you’ll never win is just an exercise in ego.

I just watched Chris Cuomo interview Bill Maher. At the very end of the interview, beginning about 7:45, Maher talks about political correctness:

And yet, the same people who complain about political correctness also complain that nobody’s polite any more.

Different things. PC has nothing to do with politeness, it’s about censoring unpleasant truth and controlling what views can be expressed and which cannot. But I digress; won’t derail the thread.

Nope, political correctness is what people call politeness when they don’t want to be polite.
