Watched the first episode, and wondered, “who is that woman that looks a little like Helen Hunt?” Because no way did we think it was her.

So I didn’t give a rip about this thread but having seen everything on cable and Netflix we decided to watch I See You tonight.
15 minutes in Dolly (who is not a member of these boards) mentioned Hunts mouth and how the rest of her face looked odd. I had not mentioned this thread to her previously.
A web search lead my wife to believe it has something to do with either a facelift Hunt had, the car accident, or both. But to both of us she looks odd and as if she has to work to open her mouth like it is very stiff. Rather strange.
The OP is quite right, something is off with Hunts mouth.
BTW, I give the movie a C+, Doll hated it to high heaven!

I just watched the The pilot episode of the new mad about you. It has to be ill-fitting dentures. Her teeth are just completely different. The whole structure of her mouth is just completely different. It’s kind of creepy.
She’s 59 years old and looks great. I think it’s creepy that anyone expects her not to have changed in 20 years.
That’s the thing. When I’ve seen her lately I’ve thought that she looked awful and very old. But we’re so used to seeing female actors that have undergone so many surgeries that they no longer look real. She looks real.
I think she stepped out of the spotlight for awhile. So her age seems to have jumped because of the absence.
Maybe, but I’m not convinced. I’ve seen plenty of old people who have not had any work done, I think there is something else at play here (and no, I don’t know what that might be).
I think that’s a pretty good example of a still photo that is a poor representation of what a person actually looks like. Here’s an interview from last year that gives a better picture. Also, her face looks better in motion and smiling.
FWIW I think her mouth is fine in those first pictures; it’s the smooth tightness of the skin near the eyes and cheeks that’s off.
Quite possible. You lose collagen as you age, which is why your hands and face start looking like something out of “The Mummy”
The first thread about how her looks changed is from 2005. So it’s been 17 years since her looks were brought up here. And she seriously looks bad for her age.
Remember that people used to think she and Jodi Foster were lookalikes way back then. Look up a pic of Foster now and you will see a woman that’s aging normally. Hunt looks much worse and they are the same age.
The most likely reason is simply genetics. I’m not a celebrity follower, but I don’t recall anything about her being a smoker or spending a lot of time on the crow’s nest of a pirate ship, exposed to the weather, looking for sails all day long.
