This might possibly be the best starting-a-new-job advice I have ever seen given. I’m so stealing that.
We never really noticed it.
Congrats, Guin. When are you going to take some vacation?

Yay for Guin!
You probably won’t see this until after your first full day, but I’m sure it will go fine. No need for you to be nervous.
Don’t be surprised if you’re exhausted after the first day and dead dog tired by the weekend. There’s lots of adrenaline and excitement with a new job and it wears you out at first. Pretty soon, you’ll be in the routine.
You’ll be great!
WTG, GUIN.
Hope it’s everything you hoped it would be (you know, a paycheck and not too much trouble).
Congrats! 99% of temp workers are morons; by not being a moron, you’ve got a big old leg up on them.

Guin, way to combat global warming.
Congrat’s, you’ll do well.
Best advice I’ve read in a long time
Congrats, Guin. Go get 'em.
Congrats, **Guin! **I’m sure you’ll do great. Keep us posted!
Congratulations! I hope you have a good time tomorrow.
Congrats! Just remember, don’t let jerk cow-orkers get under your skin. Do Your Job, don’t listen to their crap, and learn as much as you can. Any experience counts.
I post this as someone who has given you shit in the past, and whether you believe it or not, I sincerely hope you like your new job, and do well at it.
I think that is me.
Congratulations, Guin.
Hope your first day goes well.
Congratulations! Drop me an e-mail and let me know what agency it’s with (I’ve dealt with most of them) and who your new employer is. If you like, perhaps we can have a celebratory lunch.
Woo-hoo!
Will do, Siege, although it might have to be on a weekend. I only get forty-five minutes for lunch, and there’s not many places within walking distance.
Oh my, I’m exhausted. I had to get up before five am to make sure I was ready for the bus on time, but all in all, I’ll get used to it. The worst part is waiting for the buses-especially in the afternoon-(yucky sun, it’s too hot!)
The place is extremely laid back. Jeans are the norm, except on pay days, every two weeks, when we’re supposed to dress up. Basically, we’re a “post-closing mortgage servicing company”. My job for now seems to be to take orders for information, contact what are called “abstractors” and see if they got the orders, and then process them, send them (via fax, e-mail, etc). My supervisor is starting me out pretty slow-I made a few calls and only a few mistakes.
I am VERY tired, but then, it’s kind of a shock to go from slacking to working within twenty-four hours. And the walking will be very good for me as I’ve been meaning to get more excercise. Basically, as long as I’m home before Countdown with Keith Olbermann*, I’m good. And it’s on at 8 pm, so I’m there.
My only complaint? The building smells kinda funny, like a mixture of new carpet, plastic, and paint. It’s not BAD, but just rather odd.
I need to make a list of things I want to buy, and get some things to decorate my own little cubical. So far, I’m temporary, I’m not sure how long this job will last-I’ll have to ask my recruiter at the employment agency.
Oh, and one sad note-I had to call the GI lab at the hospital and tell them I won’t be coming in anymore. I’m so going to miss Rose and Barb-they’re absolute sweethearts. I’ll have to call the volunteer office about possibly coming in once or twice a month on the weekends, which means I’ll have to change positions.
*Keith Olbermann is my new embarassing crush. He’s so delightfully snarky. He’d make a great Doper.
That’s wonderful news, Guin! Best of luck, from a fellow temp-to-permer. (Ex-T2P, actually, I went perm a few weeks ago.)
Magic 8 Ball. Every desk should have a Magic 8 Ball.
Sounds like you had a good first day. That’s terrific.
Awesome news, Guin - I’m happy for you. Sounds like you’re going to do well!
(And a stress ball…those are fun:). )
E.
Congrats on the job Guin! I woulda been in earlier but sometimes having to do actual, you know, work, keeps me from posting.
I’m glad your first day went well. May they all be good days!
Congratulations, Guin! I hope you love it.
