Hell o' Weenies (October Mini-Rants)

Yup–in a brace, surgery Friday, had an MRI today and my wife got meds. Sounds like a 4-6 month recovery. Gonna be a looonngg winter, especially with no skiing.

If I were you I’d be complaining a lot more! That really sucks!

Thanks–starting to really hurt. Long day.

You must be a shitty patient, if your wife needs meds to deal with dealing with you.

“if you’re happy and you know it, it’s your meds” pa rumpa pum pum.

Damn, dude. That’s a rough break. It doesn’t quite belong here in the mini-rants thread; that one is up there with the maxi-rants.

Best of luck and keep us posted. We can come visit and drive you nuts!

Hells bells, that has got to hurt. Glad you were seen, have the necessary drugs and the necessary doctor. Heal well and maintain patience while healing.

( Please get well soon? )

Thanks all y’all. Need to buy a recliner tout suite. Trying to sleep in the bed is a no go. And grab bars for the shower. And cancel our Fiji trip scheduled for 11/3/23 for my 56th birthday! (Wah!).

I do feel better… And then the baby got a fever and it turns out he has flu A. So that’s great. Didn’t even have a chance to get a flu shot for anyone yet.

But we got worse news today. My husband works at a corvette restoration shop owned by a husband-wife duo. My husband’s boss manages the operations side and his wife was managing the books. A couple of months ago, she had what looked a lot like a stroke. She never really got better and every doctor they took her to couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Last night, she passed away. She was an amazing lady. A real firecracker. Way too young to just go this way.

Ouch.

Many small businesses like that do not survive the loss of one of the partner-couple. My pest control company went down like that when the exterminator guy’s wife / partner / bookkeeper / office manager just dropped dead one day mid-sentence. The business and the other ~10 employees hobbled along for a few more months but his heart wasn’t in it and he sold out / shut down the biz. I never knew whether the national chain that bought their book of business offered jobs to the workers. I do know he retired; too messed up to do anything else and almost old enough to have done so in the normal course.

I really hope you and your husband have a better outcome than that.

I’m so sorry. That just sucks for your husband’s boss and those who know the couple.

LSL is right though, so on top of the stress of dealing with this situation, your husband should polish his resume. I hope he won’t need to use it.

I’m still sad about it. I’ve got plenty of spatulas in all shapes and sizes, but this one was really neat…sort of a mid-size.

And I’m kicking myself because just last month I visited two extremely nice, independently-operated kitchen stores and admired their spatula offerings. :woman_facepalming:

You just had to go mentioning favorite spatulas, didn’t you? I just discovered that mine has a split down the middle of the silicone, dagnabbit. How did that even happen? Maybe I should just use it as intended instead of an all-purpose tool?

Sigh.

Spatula City from the Weird Al movie “UHF”!

… or a way to make PJ Soles giggle in ‘Stripes’…

The word “Spatula” really sounds like it ought to be a gizmo gynecologists use in the course of their workday. You’re welcome.

There are spatulas made of stainless steel used in gynecology.

Supplies!

Also suitable for flipping very tiny eggs.
