I was heading north, and I’m back home in Madison tonight. I was driving from Kansas City – about 10 hours on the road.
I lived in Ames for two years, about – good lord – 25 years ago.

I did my undergrad at ISU from 1981-87. I had three majors (hence my nom de net): physics, maths, and computer engineering, with unofficial minors in English Lit & comp sci.
I did that trip once, in an ancient de Havilland Beaver. There were no nav radios, so we just followed I-35 from Kansas City to St. Paul.
It only felt like 10 hours. I was on a folded-up bedspread on a metal seat that was shaped for a parachute harness.

Huh. I was teaching religion there from '84 to '86. If you took Intro to Religion or Religion in America for one of your general ed classes, I could’ve been your teacher.
