Hello, Verizon...

Yes, I am calling to cancel my service.

No, I actually don’t want you to review my service package to see if I’m getting the best deal.

Yes, I understand that you hate to lose me as a customer and that I’ve been a valued customer for over ten years, but there’s not much you can do about that at this point. Because Verizon has supported the end of net neutrality. Yes, that’s why I’m cancelling my service.

No, giving me a lower rate isn’t going to affect my decision. You could offer to PAY me instead of CHARGING me a monthly rate and I still wouldn’t want to be a Verizon customer any more.

Thank you. No, that will be all. Goodbye.

Check your auto payments for the next 3 months. I never have any luck getting something cancelled. It seems the phone droids have “save” quotas, and to meet them they have to delete some of the cancellation calls they received. Or, you could tell the bank not to honor their request and thereafter get a nasty letter telling you your account was cancelled for non-payment.

Comcast’s latest blurb to try to stave off the angry mobs:

“We wanted to reinforce today – to the public, our customers, regulators, and legislators – what we’ve been saying and doing for years. We support permanent, strong, legally enforceable net neutrality rules. We don’t and won’t block, throttle, or discriminate against lawful content. We also believe in full transparency; you’ll know what our customer policies are.”

Sorry I can’t link to the page, but Board functionality is broken for me at this point.

This page, I assume.

Thanks. Good advice. I had a little discussion with my credit card company.

Whom are you switching to?

There’s a local Amish outfit, but you have to contract to buy all your kerosene from them.

Saw this on twitter:

COMCAST: We don’t and won’t block, throttle, or discriminate against lawful content. We never will, but it is important we be able to. But we won’t. So let us do it. Because we won’t do it. Which is why we are spending so much money to make sure we can. But we won’t. But let us.
