I was also pretty happy with the outcome of both shows.
Christina’s team was screwing up continually, and yet, she pulled it together and finished solid. They showed Kimmie standing around looking like the wet fart that she is, and Dana simply looked like a deer in the headlights. Had it not been for her (Dana’s) 30 seconds of bikini time I think she would have been cut weeks ago. Justin looked like he was about to blow a gasket at any moment, and that is the antithesis of what GR would be looking for to run his kitchen.
Josh was made to look overly confident, even arrogant, in the leadup to the finale. As others have said, Christine’s whole menu was coherent and well prepared, albeit a little ho-hum. Josh chose lamb chops; which are a cinch to cook. I make them in my toaster oven they’re so easy, and come out great. Either of these two winning would have been satisfactory, as they are both very likeable and marketable as cook book authors.
The final 7 for HK went down pretty much as I predicted. That’s one of the things I like about this, there aren’t a lot of stupid, crazy, or infuriating results. Say what you will about GRR, he has a good head on his shoulders and makes the eventual champion earn it. I’ve never seen a winner that upset me, and no matter how predictable it gets, that alone will always put it in front of The Amazing Race or Dancing With The Stars.
Christina was a mystery for much of the season; in a weird sense, that says a lot about how good she was…there just weren’t a lot of opportunities to yell at her!
Just as a little postscript, I’m just a little puzzled as to what Guy’s problem was. He seemed to have it together despite some blunders. There’s no way in hell GRR could’ve thought he was worse than Robyn, Clemenza, or Bryan. Why did he go out so soon? Is there an unwritten rule that if he thinks you have a real chance and you disappoint him, you’re going early? That’s the only thing I can think of.
