Just swapping the teams means nothing if Dan (is that the goof’s name) and the old dude would still have to be on the same team. At least one of them would have to go/remain on blue or the swap is pointless.
No way would 4 go at once, then they’d have too few episodes. Unless they then had 4 episodes with no eliminations, but who wants that?
GRR is in a bit of a predicament here. Of course, no one who knows anything about this show actually thinks he’s going to knock out four at once, but someone has to bite the bullet. He can lay off one week and get rid of two two later, but that’s a very rare occurrence on this show. Kicking the can down the road ain’t his style.
I have the feeling that Mary is taking the walk. She was lucky to survive last week and GRR is merciless toward weak contestants who squander second chances. Nedra and Dan are irritating as hell, but they aren’t rock-bottom just yet.
He did say that he’d do something he’d never done before, so I doubt it’s just a simple switch. But who the hell knows. We’ll see. Honestly, as long as Anthony goes the distance, I’m happy. He really seems like the elite of a weak field.
Skipped a week because I wasn’t sure where exactly this show was going. Turns out the “probation” led to nothing (what a surprise), but it did seem to give them a genuine scare, which sometimes is just what they need.
For the first time in a while we’ve had a skipped elimination, which I’m pretty sure we can chalk up to Gina taking a hike. As much as Ramsey hates deadwood (and I have no doubt that he does), he knew who he was getting and isn’t about to cut the season way short.
So…it looks like the ones to beat are Anthony, Michael, and Ja’nel. We’ve barely seen or heard anything from Anthony, which either means getting bounced for “having no spirit” or becoming a powerful contender; it’s clear the latter is the case here. Michael has held together remarkably well, all things considered, and Ja’nel flat-out shone today.
Beyond them, it gets murky. Ray is maddeningly inconsistent, yet somehow manages to be just good enough to survive. Likewise, Nedra, and I’m as surprised as anyone that she actually seems to have improved somewhat. Zach has sprung back from his early stumble and seems pumped to really make a go at it…if only his side could win a reward challenge!
Mary has become the “endearing joke character” of the season. Timid, insecure, continually stumbles all over herself, yet always get a second wind or burst of speed when she needs it. Won’t win this by a long shot, but should be fun to watch, if only to see which side of her comes out each night.
I wouldn’t be too upset over Ramsey’s family. I’m sure they’re well used to this by now.
I nodded off somewhere between chasing critters in the parking lot and GR’s son getting a bad cheeseburger. Can I safely assume the blue team lost the challenge and had some horrid punishment like cleaning up the parking lot, or prepping both kitchens while the ladies went off somewhere delightful for champagne and truffles?
The ladies went to a local Sea World-type place (Pacific something, I forget the name) to feed the penguins and swim with the fishes. The guys had some stupid, time-wasting task involving feeding and walking some farm animals. It was an opportunity for Dan to fully alienate himself from the rest of the group by insisting he was too good a chef to walk a llama, or something.
Too bad Dan didn’t get swapped to the red team just to see if he could work with a team that’s not all conspiring against him. But I think the way he basically said “fuck the team” when he went up sealed his fate, even if he can cook.
Being able to cook does not equal being able to run a brigade-style kitchen. Even though Dan proved that he could cook adequately, he also showed himself to be an entitled, whiny bitch on more than one occasion. It always amazes me that these boobs don’t seem to grasp the idea that that is the ultimate goal: to show GRR that you can effectively run a resturant, not just be a decent line cook.
This is probably why so few - if any - of the “winners” actually end up running a resturant.
They seem to be moving this show all over the place now, from Tuesdays to 2hrs on a Monday, to nothing for a week and a half then on Thursday. It’s like they’re actively trying to lose viewers.
Missed some because we had company commandeering the TV and I got bored with the red side winning all the rewards.
Anyway, the big news is that Nedra is toast. I’m amazed it took that long. I thought she should’ve been gone last week. The best way I can put it is that she’s the most worthless contestant ever on this show. Riding the red team’s coattails, sucking up rewards, having the most disgusting attitude and not letting up for a second, never taking responsibility, routinely screwing up…yeesh. Someone needs to ask Ramsey, what was he thinking? If he wants to make life miserable for his charges, there are more efficient methods.
I don’t think we should read too much into Ja’nel’s slipup. It’s one slipup. She was due. Barring a total breakdown, she’ll recover. Susan, however, has committed a cardinal sin: taking a close call personally. There’s no point in getting vindictive over this. What are you going to do about it, anyway? Sabotage someone? Oh yeah, there’s a winning strategy. Act surly and snitty in the dorm and justify their hatred? Act totally cocky and invincible? You’re in for a cold reality check. Be glad that you’re still in it and move on! Like they’re doing!
This is usually about the time I settle on favorites, but I just don’t know right now. Anthony’s looked great, but let’s see how that little one-on-one with Ramsey turns out. Probably not much, but you never know.
