Regardless, yes, they do seem to collectively be able to cook, but man, I just don’t see anyone yet that I’d like to see as the winner. So far, with this group, it’s more like which person would I grudgingly allow to stay around.
They showed two episodes the first night, two weeks ago. Then one episode last week and then this week’s.
If this season is going to be anything at all like last season, and something tells me it is*, the eventual winner will be someone we barely even notice until half way through. I remember very distincly not even knowing Paula’s (yes I know she wasn’t the winner) name until she started to kick some ass during the individual challenges. Or when she started to really cook some amazing food during the team challenges.
I cant stand violence (in real life or on screen) but it would have been fine with me if both “Bad Ass” Gordon Ramsay and that attention whore Joseph (who I am sure was just begging for an excuse to confront Ramsay, looking for his 15 min. of TV fame) would have beat the shit right out of each other…
(Though if I had to guess, both are all talk, and would turn tail after the first punch, as that seems to be the M.O. of most loudmouth bullies when matched with someone of the same size, instead of a smaller and weaker target.)
Actually, he’s said to be 55 pounds lighter, having cleared up the pericarditis that knocked him out last season and as of April, was preparing to have gastric bypass surgery.
Hiding readily-found info on Robert related to the outcome of this season…
Robert and fellow contestant Seth Levine from Season 5 opened a restaurant called Georgica in East Hampton on June 1. Seems safe to say that he doesn’t win Season 6.
For the people who missed the episode due to mixing up the start time, check your listings if you get Fox Reality Channel. I believe they replay this episode some time during the weekend.
Just make sure not to watch anything else on that channel. It makes me weep for humanity,
I’m not a fan of real life violence, either. I think I would like to see the two of them transformed into a video game, though.
By the way, I think Chef Prick could probably kick some serious ass. I think he’s got enough inner rage to pull it off. Pussyboy, on the other hand, looks like he needs to experience a real fight so he’ll shut the fuck up.
I was so glad retrospectively that the Blue Team lost the challenge when Ramsay announced the prize involved another helicopter flight. Screwing Robert out of ANOTHER prize due to being overweight for a helicopter ride would be just too awful.
Oh, yeah, this show is so popular we need a new thread each week.
Well, since there doesn’t seem to be a new thread, I’ve dug this one out. Maybe someone could flag it for a moderator, to change the title?
Anyway… third time’s the charm. Buh-bye Lovely!
What is noteworthy is that this set of contestants actually finished dinner services both week 3 AND 4. As pointed out, it took other sets until week 5 or 6 to reach that.
Also, there are some contestants with amazingly delusional ideas of their worth. Like Suzanne thinking that Ramsay ‘listened to me’ on the elimination. Hello?? Do you really imagine he would toss someone who screwed up ONCE over someone who had been completely useless each and every time???
I think the guy who sauntered around will not be there much longer. Ramsey seems to really hate people who aren’t out there hustling every minute.
Robert seems to really be losing it this season. Again, the people who tend to win the show are the ones that you don’t even notice until about half-way in when all the useless people (who get the most face time) are eliminated… So I’ve been trying to keep my eye on such people. There seem to be a few solid performers so far, and I’m also surprised they’ve been able to complete so many dinner services. Are they actually letting qualified people in this time around?
And on a side note, I think this year’s prize sucks. Aside from getting dual citizenship or commuting to work regularly, you basically have to become a Canadian (which I’m not trying to say is a negative, but it’s not as good as having to move to Vegas).
I was grouchy over just about everyone this week. Tennille was very shouty-sounding the whole time, and I was almost upset that she did well because I wanted to stop having to listen to that. Robert was also in full-on yelling mode, though I was kind of surprised at the reaction shots from the customers - Ramsay yells a lot and he never/almost never gets the cutaway shots to the crowd from that, I thought?
Oh, and Robert? You didn’t almost die for that show, your pericarditis was diagnosed during it. You left just about right away (rightfully so) after it was diagnosed. If it wasn’t last season’s show it would have been some other time that it turned up.
Dave - man, at least that doesn’t appear to be his dominant hand. My wrist break was on my dominant hand and I did go crazy at one point during recuperation and did some cooking, including doing stuff that probably would have grayed some hair on my orthopedist. (Did you know that if you have a pot of pasta that needs draining, and it’s the type with two semicircular handles, you can rest one handle on a forearm cast to help bring it over to the sink and strainer?) I just worry that he’s going to reinjure it after the cast comes off due to trying to do too much too soon, unless the show is shot fast enough to make that not an issue.
The thing that makes me mad is on every single challenge it comes down to the last sausages, the last dinner ticket, the last shrimp peeled. IRL, most of the time people win by margins. Sometimes big, sometimes small, but not down to the wire every time. This show makes me mad, but I can’t stop watching.
Oh… btw… isn’t that Heather (past season winner?) as the other sous chef? I am pretty sure it is, but there is no mention of her directly and only Scott is featured getting into it with the contestants.
