Help a longtime Doper whose home was destroyed by fire on Christmas

Thank you for the update, Czarcasm, and I’m glad to hear that we were able to help!

I’m very glad to hear this.

Glad y’all are getting back in your feet. And so, so sorry about the kitties. :crying_cat_face:

I’m happy to hear that things are looking up. best wishes.

I have many personal and sentimental items it would hurt me to lose, but my pets would be the worst loss. I will hope that sometime you will be able to rescue a cat and love it the way the three lost ones were loved. Glad to hear you have your own place again. Keep us posted when you can.

Thanks for the update!

Wonderful news! Y’all take good care of yourselves.

That’s heartbreaking! I’m in on this! Thanks for the information!

I went to the link, filled out the info, but there was no “Donate Now” button anywhere to be seen. What’s with that?

There is a Donate Now button on this page:

What browser did you use? I tried Firefox and Chrome, but no button. Maybe I have to create an account to donate?

No account needed. Your link doesn’t have a donate button? The link should have a big donate button right under the share button.

No account needed. Maybe your browsers block some functionality?

(I see a big orange “donate now” button in Chrome)

Thanks for the update @Czarcasm!

Firefox

My machine is cleared through the firewall via a static address, so I shouldn’t have a problem. Nevertheless, you may be on to something. I’ll try Edge. If that doesn’t work, I’ll try at home.

Nope, no dice. I’ll try at home.

Work sites may totally block donations.

Really glad to learn things are looking up a bit, @Czarcasm. You’ve certainly had a rash of challenges since the holidays. I’m so sorry about your beloved kitties.

Were you ever given a definite cause of the fire? I think I read they suspected faulty wiring, but in my hasty reading of this thread (I’ve been away for awhile), I wasn’t sure. Apologies if you’ve already mentioned it.

I hope getting your lives back on track goes smoothly and as you want it to. Big hugs to all, and glad the thread was of help.

You can also test through your phone, turning off wireless to make sure you’re going through the carrier network. That’s what I do when I’m trying to problem solve website weirdness.
