Help Finding Thread About Imbedding Youtube Videos

I can’t find a thread I posted in that explained how to imbed videos. The only way that worked consistently for me involved ctrl + c and then something like ctrl + shift + v? Does anyone remember the thread? Thank you!

How To Avoid the YouTube Posting Bug, I believe.

I thought that was it too, but it’s either not the right thread or some posts got deleted.

There must be another thread, because I believe I successfully posted Three Dog Night’s “Shambala” with the way I described in my op here.

What you’ve described, Ctrl-Shift-V, is how you embed any graphic url that you want to display inline, or any url that you want Discourse to generate a preview box for. That command inserts the raw url you copied from [wherever], rather than the usual url format that displays pretty clickable title words instead of https://blah.blah.blah

If you put that resulting url on a line by itself, Discourse will display the image inline, or create a preview box for the page if it is able to do so. Some sources don’t cooperate and that’s not Discourse’s fault.

For the specific case of YouTube vids, and only YouTube vids, that ought to work, but doesn’t due to a different bug about embedding videos. The thread you were directed to is how to work around that bug.

Here it is …

@Dr.Strangelove laid it out here:

Thank you everyone! Thank you pjd for finding the thread I couldn’t find.

YAY!

I thought I did that yesterday. I don’t know why the image didn’t show up then.
