Help for Quasimodem

We help because we care

I just wanted to make a final post in this thread to let y’all know that if I haven’t sent you a personal note of thanks, it’s not because I forgot or am not grateful.

I have envelopes with names and amounts, I have to compare the PayPal contributions with e-mails and nicks, and I have to check my SENT folder in PM’s because I am catching myself sending double messages of thanks to some of you ( Not that you don’t deserve it!:))

This has been a very hectic week for me, but I promise to catch up, and again, if I didn’t send you a note, I AM sorry - your kindness has not and will never be forgotten!

Bill

I sense that it’s important to you to thank each of us individually, Bill, but I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say we weren’t after acknowledgment or a thank-you note when we donated! What we were after, and what we got, was a chance to help a friend in need.

Seconded. Focus on making a better life for yourself and your loved ones, and that’s thanks enough.

No. Sorry, but everyone must be thanked.

I have got to try to make this right somehow.

Pride is a tough thing to let go of.

I love you all for what you did for us, but I wish to God I could have turned this around on my own.

My Dad would slap the shit out of me, were he alive.

Q

I was hesitant to re-visit this thread, and asked Marley23 for advice about it, and this is one of the choices I had, so I am taking it.

The original post, http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=11719301#post11719301, went to The Game Room, because that is where I spend much of my time asking my friends there for advice on playing World of Warcraft, but someone needs to be thanked for that wonderful gift, so I’d like to do it here as well and just say a final thank you.

If you clicked on the link then you know what this is all about, but if you didn’t, then just let me tell you that someone anonymously left me a gift of a very large monitor with just a note “For Quasi” on the box.

I suspect it was someone from the metro Atlanta area since there was no packing slip, no shipping records and just the note. Also, it’s got to be someone who knows where I live, because it wasn’t delivered by UPS/FedEx, etc.

I also believe it was someone who knows I enjoy playing WoW, because why would you give someone such a huge-screen monitor just “out of the blue”?

My wife and I have been so blessed to have received so much kindness this past month and this latest gift is just as precious to me!

I feel like a kid finding this monitor (A Dual Homi) under the Christmas tree!

Whoever you are, I send my sincere thanks and my love.

As I thank all of you!

Your Friend Always

Bill/Quasimodem

On that note, I’m going to close this thread. Thanks to everybody here for your generosity and kindness.
