Help! Funny computer/military book!

An undergraduate has been volunteering time in my lab, doing genotyping and assorted crap that I foist off on him. He’s really smart, really talented, and an all-around cool guy. He’s looking to go into grad school in genetics, and I think he’ll go far.

Unfortunately, he’s been called up for a second tour of duty in Iraq. He’s in the Marine Corps, setting up computer networks. Because he has a lot he needs to take care of before he leaves, tomorrow will be his last day in lab, unless he comes back after his tour is up. Assuming he is alive and well when his tour is up.

My boss is bringing in a very nice mouse biology book for him, stuff that’s relevant to our work. I wanted to bring in something more light-hearted and relevant to his work, but I know nothing about military or computer matters. Can anyone recommend a funny or useful (or both) book for a military computer person? Also, it has to be something I can get by tomorrow afternoon somewhere in Manhattan.

Much gratitude will be forthcoming for any ideas.

The War in 2020

Excellent book, and some interesting uses of computers in a military context (not the main plot). Anyone who has read it and remembers the interrorgation scene will know what I am talking about.
