What is the origin of this phrase? Google of course only turns up instances of its use. Where was this phrase first said?

The interesting thing is I always laugh much harder at “Come and see the violence inherent in the system!” (the line right before the quote in question), yet everyone wants to quote that one.

Oppressed is the correct choice semantically, tho a check of Webster’s online dictionary has
this subdefinition: “b: to put down by force” which I guess can apply too.
