Help I.D. this movie quote!

A number of years ago I saw an episode of “Herman’s Head” (anybody else miss that show?) that had a running joke in which the character played by Yeardley Smith (the voice of Lisa on “The Simpsons”) had two favorite movie quotes that she had always wanted to use in a real life situation. The second (and more bizarre) quote I recognized from the movie "Mister Roberts"and went something like, “Captain, it is I, Ensign Pulver, and I just threw your damn palm tree overboard!”

The first quote, however, I’ve never been able to identify and went something like, "Crazy? Of COURSE it’s crazy. But it might just be crazy enough to work!"

Anybody know where that quote comes from? Herman’s Head was on from 1991-1994, so the quote can’t be from a movie newer than that.

Thanks!

Barry

It’s a cliché used in innumerable movies, cartoons, etc. Tracking down the very first one would be like finding the first book to use “It was a dark and stormy night”[sup]*[/sup].

Forgive me, but this sounds enough like some of the things being discussed/mentioned on this thread or at least a good candidate.

I can’t think of a single movie for it, but it feels like one I’ve heard in no telling how many.

I agree on the Ensign Pulver one, though.

Hmmm… Since the “Ensign Pulver” quote was obviously from a real movie, I just assumed the other quote was also from a specific, readily-identifiable movie. Maybe not…
