Help! I got a new disk. Now how can I make Quicken work again?

When I bought my computer a couple of years ago, it came with Quicken, which I use all the time.
Then my grandson said I needed a bigger disk and installed it as C: and my old one as D: and moved everything over. But now Quicken wants to know the code to unlock it and he has no idea how to find it.

Anybody ever get this type of thing to work? I don’t feel I should pay for a new copy, because I already own the one on D:.

I assume this is not a simple Quicken account password request, but is some sort of install verification code key request.

I’ve moved Quicken from drive to drive for friends a few times. With older Quicken versions you can simply move the directories over and link to the executable program, but if you’re getting that message you’re probably going to to have to re-install a new version of Quicken if you want it to operate correctly.

Quicken is cheap. Just get the latest version from Staples, install it and then import your checking accounts from the old programs data directory…

Call Quicken up and ask them for a new code. I had this happen when I upgraded my computer. They gave me a new code and I went on my way.

Thanks! That makes a lot more sense than Astro’s advice. I couldn’t imagine having to buy all new software just to upgrade or repair a disk.

Let us know if quicken gave you a new code.
