hello everyone. i’m living in the united states but plan on going overseas(england) to teach next year. i applied through a program a friend is using to teach in england. the reply left me puzzled and feeling stupid.

“Thanks for contacting us through the web. I would appreciate it if you would take a moment to send us a copy of your CV including a brief covering letter outlining your teaching experience and your initial thoughts regarding where you would like to teach in the UK. I look forward to hearing from you.”

i promise i am a well-educated woman, but what is a CV?
someone told me it was my resume, but i wanted to make sure before i sent a reply.

It is your resume.
It stands for Curriculul Vitae (sp?)

Or ‘Curriculum’ even.

Curriculum vitae, and includes not only your education and experience but any publications you might have been involved with, any boards or professional organizations you belong to, etc. Just an extra-thorough resume, basically.
