Help ID a song (Country?)

Google and iTunes are no help. The chorus is something like:

“As you ride off into the sunset,
Do you really believe he’s the one?
Nothing we do is forever,
There’s always a faster gun.”

I remember it getting airplay on SoCal country stations in the late 1990s, maybe? The sound was something like Diamond Rio or one of those groups.

Any help is appreciated.

Could it possibly be Ride 'em Cowgirl by Sherrie Austin? Lyrics aren’t anything like what you posted, but there are common elements (“faster gun”, “sinking sun”)

No, but thanks for the suggestion. The singer is definitely male, though he is in the tenor range, and I’m pretty sure about the lyrics in the chorus.

I found this searching for nothing +forever +“faster gun” +lyrics

Thanks — that’s not it, either. (Randy Travis’s voice is quite distinctive: lower and warmer than my singer’s.) I wrote down the chorus the last time I heard the song, thinking it would be easy to google for artist and title, but either I’m way wrong or it’s really obscure. Perhaps I’ll email the station (KSON in San Diego).

Dr. Drake, I remember that song from MTV back in the 90’s. It was a male voice, etc., and I remember that there was a hotrod involved in the video. I am looking for the saong also, with no success, thus far.
I’ll keep you posted, you can do the same, thanks.

It’s called “Faster Gun” by Great Plains.
