Help ID this song-- perhaps?

Hard to explain, here goes:

I was at a bowling alley tonight, and I heard the “Sonic collecting a ring” chime from the Sonic The Hedgehog games.

Hopefully you guys know the chime I am talking about-- it would be too much to hope that you too, are conditioned to look for the source of that noise when you hear it. In much the same way like Pavlov and his dogs.

Does the sonic chime occur in any recent song / piece of music? I heard some music earlier, and the Alley was playing Dance / Trance / Techno songs that I recognized.

Does the sonic chime occur in any recent Arcade Coin Op game? ((We were bowling next to the arcade area.))

Y’know, I hated it when I landed on a hidden spike and lost all my rings. Stupid spikes.

I’m not saying it wasn’t. Probably so. If it is a song… I want it.

At the 7-11 on my campus, the cash registers make that exact noise when you scan something at the register (or the did six months ago, at least. I stopped shopping there when they added a surcharge for using credit/debit).

Is there any chance the register or another machine made the noise?
