Help identify a movie

And I hated the new ending!

I liked it better before the director started dicking with the special effects.

It was a rip-off of another movie with all the same elements.

I recall this one, I believe they went to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, and the theme song was “Rio” by Duran Duran.

Oooh… and remember that one scene, when the couple had this argument but you just knew they actually had the hots for each other? Unmistakable.

People used to do that to me in my record store: “I’m looking for a song that goes something something I love you something do do do. Do you have it?”

To be fair, it was before the sex change operation. Not his, but whatshisnames.

I liked it so much I even stayed for the credits. I mean who ever does that?

There’s an internet theory that one of them was really a replicant the entire time.

Did you stay for the scene after the credits?

It’s the only movie I know of where the director’s cut is twenty minutes shorter.

Killing of a Chinese Bookie, then?

Well, the movies are similar, I admit, but one features a Chinese bookie and the other an Armenian accountant.

Paul Verhoeven directed it, right?

It also had a dog.

Finally, one of these I know: Problem Child 2.

They’re doing a remake next summer with Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Hudson, and Jennifer Grey, but there’s no way it can top the original with Joanne Woodward in all three roles.

It was the one with the fake-looking CGI effects.

Was it directed by Alan Smithee?

It looks to me like it’s “some movie reference” meets “another movie reference” set against “some historical era”. Do you see it the same way?
