Help Identify These Asian Antiques From A Few Photos

Pretty much self-explanatory from the title. I have several wood antiques from the SouthEast Asia / Pacific Island region that I’m having a hard time identifying. Here’s a litte I can tell you about them:[ul][li]They’re wood: Denser than a North American softwood like pine but not as hard as oak[]They’re hand carved[]They’re unfinished[]They measure around 12-16" in length[]Fit comfortably in the handThey all have a 2-3" diameter hole on one end[/ul]Though I can’t be certain of anything, it’s probably safe to assume they’re not (1) Musical instruments (2)Primitive sex toys or (3) Used in food preperation.[/li]
My hunch: Some sort of binding tool to make rope out of vines or sisal…but that’s merely a hunch.

Does anyone have any idea what these things are called, what they were used for and in which specific part of the world they were made?

Any help (or even an educated WAG) would be appreciated.

Thanks…(Or should I say, maraming salamat!)

Interesting. They could be used to aid in twisting or finishing cording, or they could be used to aid instraightening wooden shafts, they look like overlarge holed arrow straightening tools [you steam the wood and use a tool with a hole through it to help you bend and hold a section of shaft while it cools and sets into shape.]

where? I have seen patterning like those on antique goodies in my grandparents collection from New Guinea, the amazon basin and parts of africa.
