Help identify this tool

Hanging on the wall of a place I ate tonight. Its about 3 feel long. Looks like its designed to provide a lot of pressure on the business end. It looks somewhat like a giant staple remover.

Anyway…

Any ideas?

Chain pliers.

I don’t know, but my guess was going to be a farrier tool like horseshoe nail remover.

Looks like a very old bolt cutter or metal shear of some kind. The head provides compound leverage for cutting metal. I’ve seen compound metal shears like that with only a little different head. That one looks more like it is for cutting something like a bolt or notching heavy sheet metal.

It’s not the exact same design, but, for example, this looks somewhat similar.

I think Dickerman got it in one. This “vintage chain repair pliers” seems to have the exact same head.

For example: Pierre giant chain plier no 4 - 19 in long | #1788780964

Ah, that does look a lot closer.

Yep, seems to be it. Funny, they had like things grouped together. So I figured it might have something to do with the oil industry.

Thanks!

The oil industry uses chains.
