Help me figure out what this movie is called

Inspired by that other post about “a movie that gave me nightmares”. This is a movie I saw at a friend’s house when I was probably 5 or 6- it was a Saturday afternoon and we were in the livingroom playing while his dad watched the ‘Saturday Afternoon Creature Feature’ or whatever.
The only thing I remember is that there was a mad scientist type guy, and he had this cage with a rat in it that he strapped to a woman’s face, and it showed the rat chewing on her face and her saying “no…no”. I remember thinking that the actress was Ginger from Gilligan’s Island but I was probably just associating it because I think she had the same hairstyle. Anyway, later a guy (the hero maybe?) confronts the mad scientist dude in his lab and is yelling at him about the rat-cage and either puts it on him or throws it at him and the mad scientist runs away or something. There might have been a castle in it, at one point there was a girl searching for the woman I mentioned above. Sorry it’s so vague, I was only half-watching it and it REALLY disturbed me- I think I went home and went to bed or something. If anyone can tell me what the title is of this, THANK YOU! I don’t know if I would watch it again because it’s part of the reason I have a rat phobia now (I think). Or if nobody knows what it’s called if you could direct me to a website whre I might search for it- the ones I have tried have not come up with anything.

Well, it could be part of Food of the Gods Part 2. In it, giant rats infest a university. There’s a scientist doing growth hormone testing on rats (hence the giant rats). It’s the first movie that comes to mind when someone mentions a cheezy horror flick with rats (the first one has rats, but also a lot of other animals).
There are a couple of really good horror movie sites that you could check out:
The Cabinet of Dr. Casey
The House of Horrors

I know it’s not relevant to the OP, really, but…

can I just mention how ironic it is that someone whose username is “moggy” has a fear of rats?

Not laughing at you or anything…just kind of chuckling at the juxtaposition…

Thanks but that wasn’t it…I saw this movie on tv in the mid-70s, so it had to be older than that. It may have been in black-n-white but that may have been my friend’s tv set too.

To Jayjay- I’m assuming you mean because moggy is slang for cat and cats catch rats…how refreshing to meet someone who actually knows that! I get so tired of explaining to people, “Well, moggy is British slang for cat, and I’m a cat person, etc.etc.” and have them still give me a funny look. Well I’m an Anglophile! and a weirdo and I’m not ashamed! Thank you…thank you verra much.

Exactly. Agatha Christie does wonders for one’s vocabulary of Briticisms…

[hijack]I knew moggy from a song that Clam Chowder used to sing (they’re a group of musicians in the Maryland/DC area who did the sci-fi convention circuit among other things).

It’s a song about a rather unfortunate cat, found by the side of the road. Full of terrible cat puns.

Probably wrong but…
Something about that description makes me think “The Pit and the Pendulum”. I know, the rat thing has nothing to do with the story, but what I remember of the movie didn’t have much to do with it, either.

The movie in question wouldn’t be “The Rue Morgue Massacres” would it?

The novel, 1984, I believe, had a similar rat-eating-face scenario. And, what’s more, it was to punish a person who had a major rat phobia.
