My daughter-in-law is 40 years old about 2 months ago she started having chest pain (angina) She had a stress test with acute ST depression then heart block,I don’t know what type possibly 3 degree. She said everyone in the room got VERY excited, not in a good way.
They stepped up the workup with the finale being a cardiac cath, which was completely normal. She sweet talked her way out of the hospital the next morning.
Within a few hours she showed Left sided weakness, ptosis, difficulty swallowing, slurred speech, she was taken to the ER where they worked That up. A carotid angiogram was, you guessed it, Completely normal. her symptoms subsided within an hour. Dx TIA.
She’s not overweight, has not started menopause. She has been hypertensive for 3 years; fairly significantly, up to 190s/110s. She’s been on antihypertensives, for at least a year with only marginal success. Since the TIA’s started she’s had a dramatic med suffle. She is now on Prozac & Aggrenox. The TIA symptoms have improved and her blood pressure is 114/88 & she is feeling gradually better.
Could this be Vasculitis? Any other “zebras”? Even overlooked horses. Thanks
