My wife and I just got back from a 4 day stay in Estes Park, Colorado and had a great time (thanks to the Dopers for their recommendations)! What I am looking for now is to get away for one night, tomorrow. I am looking for the cheesiest ‘love hotel’. When I was in Japan they had them all over but am having no luck finding one here.
I want a heart shaped bed, the champagne flute bath, the red walls, you get the picture! I am flexible on some of these things, of course. It would have to be in Broward County or even Miami-Dade County because it is only for one night and I need to drive to work on Saturday.
My wife has mentioned this in the past, so I want to surprise her with this for tomorrow night. Does anyone know of any such place down here?
I think the only place you are going to find something like that would be in the Poconos in PA.
There some neat art-deco hotels in Miami Beach - not exactly what you were asking about, but they are at least different from your standard chain hotel.
Dude, if it’s still in business, you need to stay at the Executive Airport Hotel near the Miami International Airport on the 836 (I believe). I’ve never been, but I have friends who went there after the senior prom (I didn’t go to that either, and it was ten years ago), and they said all the rooms are cheesy theme rooms (Jungle Room, etc.) It might be Executive Airport Inn, though.
WOW, I actually went there the night I started this post and forgot to post that I found a place!
The place is absolutely the best cheesy ‘love shack’ I have ever visited! I stayed in the safari room. You walk in and they have fake plants at the doorway. The bed is facing a 50" TV that only gets good reception on the two porn channels (that do play up-to-date non 1970’s porn!). Near the bed is a heart-shaped jacuzzi that was right next to an ‘exercise bench’ that we sterilized prior to using.
Connected to the room is another room that is similar to a strip club/champagne room/dance floor. It has a 1980’s style hi-fi stereo, a bar (with no liquor), and a leather couch. There is a disco ball and various different color lights in the ceiling. Very interesting place and I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a good laugh and wants to make their wives feel like whores! (Kind of kidding about the whore part, maybe.)
