Need help finding a video I saw yesterday on, I believe, Studio B with Shep Smith.
The video showed a receiver make a catch in the end zone when he was immediately hit by a defender. The hit was one of the hardest, most brutal I’ve ever seen. The ball pops up and the receiver, who’s now lying flat on his back, presumably dead from the hit, reaches up and snatches the ball out of the air. Defenders jump on him struggling to get the ball but the receiver holds on for a touchdown.
Did anyone see this? I’m fairly sure it was a H.S. game, but it could have been college. Anyone got a link to the vid?
Nice catch. The defender lead with his helmet, though. Unless they have different rules for High School than other levels, that’s a straight personal foul (and a big fine from the league office). Good way for the defender to break his neck.
Also, not sure if that was varsity, but those players are tiny compared to the ones I see around here.
Awesome play by both the defense and the offense. That was an illegal, dangerous hit by the CB but had he led with his shoulder that would have been a terrific play on his part too. He clearly was coming over to help after the ball was released, something most HS DBs struggle with, and his timing was perfect. Also, credit him for also being heads up and noticing that the loose ball was still alive and reacting to try and strip it on the rebound. That was very alert. All that multiplies how incredible the catch by the WR was since the defender was right there trying to knock it down through the initial hit and the 2 subsequent bobbles.
