help me find fitted hats that arent crap

I got a fitted baseball hat at the “lids” store and it had a cheap cardboard brim. I need one with a plastic brim. Please help.

I’ve never heard of a baseball cap with a plastic brim. I have about 40 fitted baseball caps, purchased from all kinds of sources, including the Cooperstown Collection, and none has a plastic brim.

Some caps have brims made with plastic foam. They last longer and don’t warp if they get wet. In my experienc3e, they were the default for about twenty years.

There’s a trend now to “shape” the brim so it’s low at the sides and peaked in the center. Foam doesn’t seem to respond to that manipulation as easily; it springs back to the original shape unless you crack the brim in half. A cracked brim often has a sharp peak that detracts from the desired appearance. For that reason, I think cardboard brims have become popular again.

I can’t help the OP’s quest for a ball cap. I only wear fedoras and panamas.

Trend “now”? We were doing that in the '70s. Nothing looks more ridiculous to me than a cap that looks like it has never been worn.

I have several other baseball hates that have plastic brims, I have even cut open some to check. I need a fitted hat type with a plastic brim.

Moved to IMHO.

To each his own. Mine look plenty worn from dirt, sweat and sun-fade. Nothing is more ridiculous to me than an athletic cap that cuts off your peripheral vision and hinders your performance.

Strike that. Wearing a ball cap backwards is more ridiculous and even farther from the original purpose. It’s like putting your shoes on the wrong feet.

Same, 80s. We’d get new hats and press the sides until the brim curls a bit (nothing drastic).

The trend nowadays is to have a ridiculous flat brim, or else one that is folded up. I never thought that the style of Rick Nielsen or Slacker would be “cool.”

I’ve bought many great fitted replica baseball caps from Ebbet’s Field Flannels. I have no idea if they are still around.

Edit: apparently they are: http://www.ebbets.com/

do they have a plastic brim? also it just has to be a “baseball style” hat not a actual baseball hat
