So, I’ve gained some weight recently due to a medication I’m on, so I need to find some bigger clothes. And it’s summer, which means all I can find are capris. Now a) These are against my company’s dress code(although probably something I could get away with) and b) I’m 5’1". I look absolutely frickin ridiculous in them. Like I’m waiting for the flood to come.
I work in retail and spend a lot of time working with stock and doing projects that require kneeling or sitting on the floor(rearranging merchandise, etc.), so anything too dressy is out. Jeans are against dress code. I generally wear cotton or cotton blend casual stuff, like cargo pants.
BUT I CAN’T FIND ANY!! It’s shorts and capris, or ultra dressy suit-type pants, everywhere I go. And I’m not a skirt person, either. In addition to the height thing, nobody needs to be subjected to my glowing white legs.
Have you tried the Gap? They usually have cotton blend “dress” pants, and even better they usually have sales (which is good because there’s no way in hell I’m paying their ridiculous original MSRP of $60 for unlined cotton blend “dress” pants). And they come in petite lengths.
I don’t know your size, but Roaman’s, Lane Bryant Catalog (separate fromthe retail stores of the same name) and OneStop.com carry petite (and they know it means under 5’6") sizes starting at size 14 - If I’m way out of line, please forgive the assumption.
GAH! I found one thing in my size and price range that I really liked. Great. I’ll get it in two colors. Nope, one color isn’t available. Strike one. Ok, so I’ll just get the one, then. It SAYS it’s on sale for $29.99, but even after getting all the way to the end of the order, my total is still showing the regular price. Strike two. So, no go.
ETA: I guess I could check out Old Navy…
no offense, LOUNE, but you’re not helping. Ms Pumpkin asked for help, and you’re either trying to turn this into a debate or you’re just being snarky, and that doesn’t seem like you, at least not the you who frequented the MMP.
eta: okay, maybe not a debate, but this isn’t a thread for humor either.
You might want to check out Sarah Jessica Parker’s Bitten line at Steve and Barry’s. You can’t order online, but I think there’s stores all over, and it’s CHEAP–nothing over $20. They have a bunch of sizes, and cute stuff, too.
Ms. Pumpkin, try Target’s website. Their stores don’t carry different lengths, but depending on the particular kind you’re looking at, the website may. I have the opposite problem, very long legs, and had to order one pair via the site. A lot of times they have deals for free shipping (checking the site, I see that women’s clothing does have the free shipping deal right now), and I seem to recall that returning something you don’t like is pretty easy - I think they might even let you do the return at a nearby store if that’s more convenient for you, but I could be mistaken.
Try Old Navy’s site - their women’s pants section has some pairs listed as “twill pants” that - if someone took an iron to them, unlike in the pictures - should work out for you. I suspect their “ankle” length also doubles as “short.”
Unless you have weird dimensions, like me. I now get my pants from LL Bean’s website, with the waistband larger than what I need so I know they’ll fit.
Let’s see…we need a new word…victorious and annoyed…
Good to see the quest came to an end.
Lute, I’m also an odd size (31x31…yes, I’m a box), but I pretty much know what I’m getting. rosie, I’m helping! It’s…comedic, background banter…that’s also annoying.
