Help me find the name of this show....pleeeeeese

There was a short-lived TV program in the (I believe) 80s about a guy with a heavy Irish accent and his partner who would show up at people’s doorsteps to congratulate winners of a state or national lottery. I remember it being dramadyish. I could have sworn Tom Berrenger was the lead in the show, but I can’t find anything on it. Surely someone here knows what I’m talking about, remembers the program and can name it?

…sadly, my Google-fu is not strong :frowning:

Is this it?

Lottery!

I don’t remember a character having Irish accent, but I do remember that Lottery! was a show that watched for its very short run, and its plot line is just as you described. Not sure why my 9 year old self took an interest, but it made enough of an impression on me that I once put down “Lottery!” as my favorite TV show when filling out a “stuff about you” questionnaire in grade school (it managed to fill that favorite TV slot in a brief transition period between Knight Rider jumping the shark and Voltron, as I recall).

Lottery!!! Duh. That’s it! How I got Tom Berrenger confused with Ben Murphy I’ll never know.

Thanks!

I used to watch any show that had Ben Murphy in it, because he looked like a second cousin of mine. I didn’t actually like this particular cousin, but that didn’t seem to matter.

Maybe because Ben Murphy starred in a primetime soap called Berrenger’s in 1985?

You’re as elusive as Robert Denby!

Amazing! That must have been the connection my atrophying mind made. :smack: Thanks!

Next thing you’ll be giving me my link to Kevin Bacon.

On a nice beach, on a tiny island, in the corner of the Caribbean, is a place called Sunshine’s Beach Bar & Grill. On the wall are pictures of various famous people who have been there, including Kevin Bacon.

You know me, and I’ve met Sunshine…
