Help me find this (controversial) monologue from a recent play

A year or two ago there was a play in NYC (off-Broadway, I think) that received good reviews. It also caused a bit of a sensation because of a controversial monologue delivered by a main character, a white middle-class woman. This woman (a teacher, I think???) was portrayed as kind, tolerant and open-minded. But some event in the show drove her to deliver an intense anti-African-American speech. The monologue reportedly made audiences squirm because it was so earnest, reasoned and non-bombastic.

I’m looking for that monologue. Anybody know the play? Is it available to read online?

NOTE: I’m not looking to spark a debate here people, just find a monologue. Let’s keep the posts limited to that, okay? Thanks all, in advance.

I’m pretty sure the play you mean in “Spinning Into Butter,” by Rebecca Gilman. Check out the review by John SImon, to see if this sounds like the play you want.

I can’t give you the text of the monologue, but at least if you have the title and author, you should be able to find it quickly.

astorian, you nailed it. Thanks bud.

But try as I did, I could not find the script online. I’m hoping that someone else with more skill, luck or time can find it.

Did you try Amazon? They have it for $9.60.
