It’s a simple request.
I need links to clothing stores that cater to the upper range of zaftig. Problem is that over here in Adelaide, Australia we’ve got three options for fat girls: A chain called Autograph, a chain called My Size and department stores.
Autograph and My Size are ripoff merchants. I can’t get out of either store for less than $150, for a pair of jeans and maybe (if I’m lucky) 2 tops. No jackets. And often it’s hard to find anything cute and young-ish. The department stores are cheaper, but still quite expensive (think a starting price of $40 for a single top), and the clothes often fit badly and are badly made. And I want clothes that are cute, damnit. I’m 24, not 84. I don’t want to be wearing clothes that my grandmother would think are too “old ladyish”.
So I turn to online. Old Navy are linked with some good reports. “Sorry, we only ship to the US and Canada”. Eshakti was linked in a recent pit thread. Their tops are so cute, the prices are decent and the clothes are customisable. But what’s this? “We only ship to the US and Canada”. And I’ve seen Torrid, but whilst they’ve got some cute stuff, most of what they’re offering just seems like it wouldn’t really fit my style.
So I need an online retailer, doesn’t matter what their location is, but they need to cater to plus size clothing, and ship Internationally. And cheap-ish would be nice, if possible. Though I’m willing to spend a bit more on cute clothes that are well made and come with a first-hand referral by a doper
Hey Sierra Indigo, when I was a bigger gal, I used to buy a lot of stuff from these guys. They are australian and sell on ebay too.

I wandered past this store the other day with my friend - saw some gorgeous dresses there:

Check them out
Thanks threnodyangelfire.
I tried a quick google search yesterday but had a range of very disappointing options. Both of those look pretty good, though the first one is a bit pricey. Having said that, though, they’ll definitely go on my list for when I’ve got a bit of money spare.
No wuckers.
Seriously check them out on eBay. I paid around $30 for each of my shirts, just on slow bidding days I guess.
There was this amazing store from the US, that I simply cannot remember the name of, but that shipped to Aus, and the dresses etc were divine and so cheap. I will continue to ponder it until I remember for you.
Edit. And here it is http://www.alight.com/
Well, it appears that only one of my favorite stores ships internationally. Unfortunately, they require a $200 minimum order, and they’re not cheap. Still, though they’ve got really nice stuff that is high quality. www.zaftique.com
J. Jill has cute, well-made stuff. The customer service page says they ship internationally, but you have to call for rates.
Just a thought. Target have great jeans that look like dress pants (I just bought a black pin-stripe pair which I intend to wear to work). Target jeans fit well because they’re a heavy fabric and therefore sit nicely. But the best thing ever? Three different lengths in every size which means you can get a large size without an extra metre of leg. I think they were $35.
Silly question, perhaps, but have you tried Big W for jeans? I generally get all mine from there.
Knowing you’re local and all, have you tried Lucy Clothing? It’s really worth a look. Very cheap clothes (most blouses are about $15-30 max, for example) and quite well made. I used to get all my work shirts and blouses from there (slacks from Big W, though - they’re longer in the leg!) as they go up to 4XL.

PS: I’m with you on the My Size stuff. Too pricey by far and generally not flattering! Autograph can be patchy; I did get some good jeans from there, but generally their stuff isn’t cut to styles that flatter me. My very busty friend, on the other hand, does quite well out of them. Frankly, I think they’re overpriced for what they deliver…
