Ever buy clothes online?

Being stuck in a small town means less of a chance to get the latest fashions. Anyone buy clothes online? Is it worth it considering you can’t try it on to see if it fits just right? It’s something I never thought about til now.

I’ve bought clothes from Lands’ End. Because of the exchange rate, it ends up costing me a fortune but the quality is excellent and I’ve never had a problem with fitting. My only difficulty, which you won’t share, is the delay in receiving the items and the seasons being back to front.

Just make sure the retailer has a good return policy, in case the clothes don’t fit (or even if they do, but you decide you just don’t like them once you see them in person). We’ve gotten lots of clothes via the Internet over the years, including a lot of children’s clothes we bought through eBay, and we’ve never had any problems.

Being a person of some size, I’ve been purchasing clothes from Haband for years. I can’t speak for whether what I buy from them is the “latest fashion” but they are of good quality, and their sizes seem to be consistent; I’ve never had to return anything because it didn’t fit properly. And that includes footwear, which has always been a problem for me. Their prices are also good and occasionally they run specials, like not charging extra for larger sizes or having free shipping.

I shop online for clothes all the time. I am overweight, so I make sure my measurements are accurate and I’ve never had a problem with clothes not fitting. Occasionally, the color is not what I expected, but my returns are few and far between. I shop at www.qvc.com and www.junonia.com a lot. They can get rather expensive, but the quality is good.

Lands End and LL Bean have casual/classic clothing that wears well, reasonably priced (especially their clearance stuff) and have great return policies if something doesn’t fit or look like you expected it to.

I intensely dislike shopping and have shopped online for years.

I buy 99% of my clothes on line. You may have to shop around a little to find a store that sizes true to your body (Victoria’s Secret jeans are perfect for me). I hate to shop. The internet shopping experience is heaven for me.

I shop Lands End and Lane Bryant for myself, Casual Male for my son, and Hush Puppies for shoes. Never had any real difficulties. Lane Bryant is nice because you can take returns to the store. ** medstar**–I checked out Junoia. It looks interesting. Do you know how their sizing compares to Lane Bryant? Thanks!

I’ve bought Wangler Hero Carpenter jeans from Walmart online before. Sometimes finding my size is difficult locally. And the small Walmart in my town doesn’t carry them.

I buy clothes online but I generally stick to either sports clothing (whch has some stretch) or brands I’ve tried on before (I know exactly what size fits me perfectly in Nanette Lepore or Stop Staring). Things like shirts are easier to get right than things that requires a more particular fit like jeans or a tailored skirt. I do try to go by their sizing but, in a lot of cases, the sizing is inaccurate (usually, due to size inflation, the clothing is larger than the size chart says). I’ve ordered pickier things online before but usually from places that have brick and mortar stores in town so returns are easy.

Now, shoes are easy to order online. Due to intense competition, a lot of sites have free shipping and free returns. Zappos is the best around for ease and customer service and Endless.com (Amazon’s venture into the world of shoe sales) actually offers negative $5 shipping (i.e. $5 off for ordering). Returns are very easy so ordering is worry free.

Another vote for Land’s End. It’s the only place I buy pants since they have free hemming. No one sells my length (about 27") and it’s very easy to buy what I want, pick the proper length and it shows up at the house in a few days. Every few years I buy new khakis for work and new jeans for play.

I buy clothes online all the time, and I mostly have pretty good luck. I do, like tremorviolet said, prefer to stick with brands that I have experience with and know my size in. If they have a local brick and mortar where I can make returns, so much the better. If they have free returns (and really, don’t buy anything online unless they have free returrns), that’s fine too, since I can just take it into the office and throw it into the outgoing mail.

Zappos rocks my world, by the way. Free OVERNIGHT shipping (usually), the world’s easiest returns, and a fabulous selection. Overstock.com and smartbargains.com are great for home stuff (I’ve gotten some really wonderful sheets and other bedding there at ridiculously low prices). Bluefly.com is handy if you’re looking for something specific, but if you live near a Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Filene’s Basement or similar, check there first. I recently got this coat at the Basement for $60, and at the time, Bluefly was still selling it for $280.

Boy I miss Filene’s Basement. The one near me closed.

My results are mixed.
I got a great Forecastle Coat, wool with silk lining, for a trifle more than the local store was charging for a plastic “bubble” coat. I still use it, & it still wears well & looks great. Warm, too.
I bought 3 turtleneck sweaters on Amazon, whose seams started unraveling straight outta the box.

So, mixed.

Buying stuff online is the whole point of living in the 21st century, imo. It’s faster, easier and cheaper. I like Sierra Trading Post for clothes, and Zappos for shoes.

Zappos. Internet GODS, I tell ya. They’re the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Both my sister and I have bought clothes from Coldwater Creek. I’ve only bought jackets from them, as I am leery of buying pants/skirts online. She’s bought a lot of skirts, and is very happy with them.

I work for Macys and if you buy clothing from the website you can return them in the store. A huge plus. Please stick to reputable sites. And always look for some sort of coupon code to use. (The only real reason I work for Macys is for the discount.)

I buy 99 percent of my clothes online. I’m a common size, so that helps. I buy from places where I can return to the store if necessary. I usually buy from gap.com, bannanarepublic.com, nordstroms.com, and other major retailers.

Unfortunately, I don’t, as_u_wish. The only purchases I make at Lane Bryant are their Cacique bras. I find that the clothing sizes are not really accurate and the fabrics and workmanship aren’t that great for the prices they charge. I love Junonia clothing because the fabrics are great and the clothes are made well. They’re a little expensive, but I think they’re worth it. Hope this helps.
