Help me ID a video game

I only have vague memory of this game (I didn’t have a console for it at the time), but here’s what I vaguely remember:

  1. I’m pretty sure (95%+) that it was for a fairly modern console system (PS4, XBOX 360, XBox 1)
  2. It caused a minor flurry as the “IN” game for maybe a month
  3. Here’s the problem. The only thing I remember about it is that a kid (probably a girl) had to paint? stuff. Or throw globs of color (green?) at stuff?
  4. It got praise for being incredibly engaging and family friendly.

Anyone have any idea what the hell I’m remembering?

ETA: Um…“The Game Room” forum exists for stuff like this. I’ll ask a mod to move it. But if any CSers happen to remember before it gets moved, don’t hesitate to post and mock me for forgetting about the forum specifically designed for this type of question. :stuck_out_tongue:

Let’s just move this over to the GB, I mean GR…

Game Room that is.

Splatoon for WiiU?

This definitely sounds likeSplatoon for the WiiU. A fun, family friendly shooter that has squid kids shooting ink/paint to mark their territory. The team with the most area covered wins.

I also like “The Unfinished Swan” for the PS3. You play the game in a blank world that you shoot paint to create contrast and find your way through the story.

It was Splatoon!

Thanks folks!

Unfortunately, wrong system. I just got an XBox One. Anything similar for that?

Not really, no; Splatoon is a first party Nintendo product which means:

A) It’s probably clever and original
and
B) You’re not going to see it on other systems, ever.

And I guess C) Most knockoffs will be pale imitations made by people who don’t really understand what made the original good.

Nintendo titles tend to be pretty unique, but this is a basic team shooter with a bit of a twist.

Maybe something like Garden Warfare might scratch the same itch? I’d say Team Fortress 2, but you said Xbone.
