Help Me ID an Old Childrens Book

I’m trying to find the title of a childrens book that my sister had as a child. She had it before I was born, so it was published in 1959 at the latest. She thinks that it was either a Golden Book or a Wonder Book.

The only lines she remembers are:

"A pig came in for a pound of chops,
A beaver bought some forget-me-nots.
A cockatoo asked for some lemon drops
to take to Baltimore.

Beelzebub the Lion Cub had a swimming pool…"

Any help will be greatly appreciated as this could result in MAJOR brownie points for yours truly.

I haven’t a clue myself, but you might try this site:

My sister and I have found the titles to several books through this place. In fact, her next birthday present will be a book I haven’t told her yet I found. I even solved one title search myself.

Good luck!

I dunno, but unless that pig’s buying lamb chops, that’s one sick, sick pig…

Baker that is one great site.

Thank you Shirley . I love it. BTW, the book I’m getting for my sister is titledAdventure in Forgotten Valley. We both read it when we were kids, and forgot title and author. But I posted a stumper and detailed what we *did * remember, and we had an answer in less than a week. The “solver” actually posted an index that had over a thousand titles in “prehistoric fiction”, and when I went to it I round it there, after a short search.

Animal Jingles
Whitman Tell A Tale #837

Good job, bluedolphin!

Of course, it’s been 12 years since the OP was asked, but still: mystery solved!

Here’s the new URL.

It now costs $4 to submit a stumper.
