I’m pretty sure it started life as a pear. I got it in that little cupboard where they keep the coconut and tamarind treats.
It is roughly pear-shaped, but kinda collapsed in on itself. It is pear-colored, but translucent.
The flavor – oh, I can’t describe the flavor. Your heads would explode! The texture is completely unique. It’s like a very soft but crusty kind of sugar; kind of like when honey crystallizes.
Given that it probably is a pear, what the heck do they do to it to get it like that? I must learn how!!
(Did I mention that they also had quince paste? Quince paste! For hella cheap!)
