I can’t seem to get this out of my head:
There was a TV movie that (I think!) starred Nancy McKeon as a girl who was kidnapped/held by a guy (who I think is Richard Thomas) in a soundproof room. I remember one scene where she throws a piece of paper out the window into a common area to try to save herself, but the guy finds it instead.
I remember seeing this movie probably about 10 years ago. I found no help on imdb so the actors may be wrong…

Right timeframe and genre : It starred Justine Bateman and Alec Baldwin.
He bolts her in her room and IIRC the crumpled note thing was there.
