I heard about it on the dope before, but I can’t remember it now. The introduction was something about there only being 7(?) people in London(?) that matter, and the rest of the people in the city are merely there to facilitate the interactions between them.
Does anyone know the title of he book? I’ve been fooling to no avail, and keep getting conspiracy theory websites! >.>
No idea, but it sounds great - reminiscent of Heinlein’s “They” or Leiber’s “You’re All Alone” (in fact, is it “You’re All Alone”?)
I went and did more searching, and it turns out that it’s Grey Area by Will Self. And it’s eight people, not seven. 
Unfortunately, there’s no e-book available, so I didn’t get it in the end…
I’m going to give it a look. Sounds interesting.
