I remember watching this when I was about six or so (early 90’s), yet I can’t remember too much of it. A recent thread on children’s movies got me thinking about it, so I intend to use you valuable Dopers as assistance in my quest for IDing this film:
-Color, non animated
-Fantasy-ish setting, including knights, swords, and sorcery (I think)
-Antagonist (I think) name sounds like KAH-TOE
-Probably made in the '70s at the latest
So…anyone up for the challenge?

The name Kato…was that character Japanese?
Don’t think so. I seem to remember him in black knight armor.
I did a character name search for “kato” at the IMDB and got nothing in that time range. Could you try to give us some more details, please? We’re good, but not THAT good!
I remember this much more: the Kato character got his ear cut off (I think) in a swordfight during the climax. There were some type of flying creatures, and also a tall stone tower. And devilish armies.

Film found, thanks to the help of people on the IMDB message boards. The film in question is the 1987 “Mio In The Land of Faraway.” Christopher Lee played Kato.
