Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror movie buffs...help ID this movie!

Ok, here is the set-up:

I saw this movie circa 1979/82 when I was 4-7 yrs old on TV (in Canada…in english). If it helps, I remember all of the actors being caucasian.

I remember 3 scenes from this.

  1. One scene involved the showing of an old ship sailing through very foggy waters. A young woman sleeping in a berth awakens to find plant ‘tentacles’ reaching through the porthole trying to grab her.

  2. Another scene involves a man standing in a courtyard before a ‘King’ and his soldiers. The man is condemned by the King, and thrown into a pit in front of the King. The man drops onto a pile of ‘flapping’ clams and is presumably devoured by these ‘clam’ things.

  3. The last scene involves a boiler room of some kind. A couple of thick, white tentacles are snaking in through a large metal box on the side of the wall. A guy in a tuxedo grabs an ax and attempts to hack them off or at least fight them back.

All of this sounds like something from Dr. Who maybe, but I am sure it wasn’t that. It was shot in ‘film’, as opposed to ‘video’ for Dr. Who.

Unless I have cobbled together 3 seperate memories from different sources I am certain this was a movie I saw in the very early 80’s. Does it ring any bells with anyone?? It has bugged me for many years…

By the way, the whole movie is there in parts.

OURYL!!! Oh. My. GAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWDD!!!

I just skimmed through all dozen parts on YouTube. THIS IS IT!!!

As silly/stupid as it is to post this query…you have to understand. I have been thinking about this movie off and on (certainly not daily or even monthly - probably yearly) for 25+ years! Ever since that day I watched it one weekend afternoon with my father and was scared terribly by it!

I saw EVERY scene I described…and although it is different than I remembered there is NO DOUBT this is it!

You sir deserve…something. All I can offer is a big, hearty THANK YOU!!! Now I’m off to kick my father in the nuts for letting a 5 yr old watch this

I first saw this movie when I was a kid also. Several times. It seemed to attach itself to various Hammer films as a double feature.
