I don’t know how many Grandaddy fans there are on this board, but I’m sure I’m not the only one. The song Fentry is one of their most evil-sounding songs. It opens with a scratchy dialog between two voices, a male and female:
Man - Well let me help you in here so you can rest by my fire. So prow cold out here.
Woman - Why thank you. It is been a cold winter isn’t it.
Man - Yeah
Woman - There was ice this morning early when I left the house. I seen it out in the ditches as I passed.
Man - Yeah
Woman - I says to myself, Jack Frost has been here.
Man - He sure has…Can you make it?
Woman - Yes sir, I can make it.
Both the voices have Western-sounding accents (as in, cowboy Western.)
Does anyone know what this clip originally comes from? There are so many Western films and TV shows that it might be completely impossible to figure this one out, but maybe someone can recognize it.
Also, for anyone who has actually heard the song Fentry, is there a name for the kind of drumbeat in the song? Grandaddy seems to be quite fond of using that drum pattern and it always sounds evil to me.
