Help me identify this 80s-90s book with a storywriting girl who likes her laser printer?

I’ve hit dead ends elsewhere, so turning my query to the eclectic knowledge here, I’m hoping I can put this mystery to rest at last. What I know:

[ul]
[li]This book came out in the late 80s or early 90s. I read it in elementary school.[/li][li]It seemed to be very popular in BC, Canada (where I lived).[/li][li]I think it may have been published by Scholastic Canada.[/li][li]It has a core group of friends, and I can’t remember any of their names.[/li][li]A character that struck me the most was a girl who liked to write stories.[/li][li]She often seemed very joyful when she printed out them out on her laser printer.[/li][li]The printer’s model may have been a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet. (For some reason that rings a bell.)[/li][li]The girl’s personality seemed very vibrant.[/li][/ul]

This is all I know, but I’m hoping this triggers recognition in someone else here. I’d be very appreciative for “closing the loop”.
