help me identify this Bach minuet-pop song

and get the tune from out of my head!

my wife is learning flute and has started on a piece just described in the book as adapted from a Bach minuet. It is instantly recognizable as a pop song from the lates 60s early 70s, but I cant work out which, and it is driving me nuts as these things do. It goes

3/4 time D GA BC D G G E CD EF^’ G’ G G C DC BA B CB AG F^ GA BG A and repeat

where notes lie between F^ (F sharp) and top G (G’), (e.g. F^’ is one octave above F^) and D G means two quarter notes and GA means two eighth notes. [sorry for the invented notation]

Minuet in G = Lover’s Concerto

of course the old supremes song! many thanks dont ask- it was driving me potty

Actually it was a group called The Toys, not the Supremes

you are right that the Toys did it first. I only have a copy of the supremes version

from http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Palladium/1306/toys.html
The March 1967 issue of Teen’s Top Ten (released November 10, 1966) declared: “With four hits in a row, these chicks are the tuffest competition the Supremes have.” Intimidated, the Supremes covered “A Lover’s Concerto” on the I Hear A Symphony LP.
