Definitely rings a bell for me!
My older sister had this book and it was passed on to me at a very young age. Too young, actually, as I was frightened by some of the scenes and refused to read all but the ‘nice’ set up scenes before she sets off. Weren’t she & Pookie buffeted terribly by the North Wind on the way?
Anyway, hadn’t thought of the book in years. Thanks!
