Help me name my laptop!

I was very tempted to rename my desktop as UselessPieceOfJunk and here’s hoping that you don’t need to do that.

How about…

Hal
Marvin
Shipboard Computer
MisnomerLaptop
MouldyBread
Skynet

The generic MyLaptop isn’t bad too.

I’ve never bothered to name my computers. (How sad…) My wife called her’s “Fred” (because that was when Apple first came out with the Speakable Items stuff, and “Fred” was the name of the voice she used for her speakable items).

My friends were just up at the house this AM–they call their white iBook “Snowball.” I’m waiting for “Snowball II” to come around some day, should “Snowball I” get hit by a car.

Exactly! People have only visited the Marianas Trench like three times: 1969, 1975, and 1982. The total time spent there was less than 5 minutes. Think of the implications.

I loved the LOTR trilogy, but can’t quite see naming my computer after any of the characters. Maybe because it’s more obviously geeky than names from an obscure sci-fi TV show…?

Or maybe BlueScreen, or BSOD (it is a Windows box, after all).

Taken. Our IT manager’s nickname is Bubba, and he named his computer “Bubba’s Toy Box.”

Umm … that I’ll wind up spending less than 5 minutes with my laptop?

And on a related note—when I added a second hard drive to my Mac, I named it “Donovan’s Brain.”

How 'bout MINE! or My Attic? The Crypt?

“Classified, eyes only”

'k, I’m done now

For a gaming rig, I’m fond of Dances with n00bs.

And I love Compu-TOR.

If you don’t mind I think I am going to use this for my new laptop.

My undying love to whoever can get me a proper audio clip of someone or something saying:

I am COMPU-TOR!!!

for my start up sound.

Ophelia Hardin!

I’d have to name mine “Eddie” for the computer on the Heart of Gold. (Or was it Eddy… I can’t remember now)

Godzilla
Rodan
Gamera
Mothra

Nothing wrong with naming your hardware after Japanese Monster Movie characters…

That’s how we named our printers here, anyway.
