Help Me Parody "The Great Gatsby"!

I have decided, for reasons of my own, to parody “The Great Gatsby”. So far, I’ve come up with 3 separate approaches:

  1. Engage in the art of alternate endings, or, for the matter, alternative anything-else.

  2. Insert Fitzgerald, his family, and his peers into the story.

  3. Re-tell the story in the style of another noted author.

Anyone with another approach?

change the identity of the narrator - either to one of the other characters or to someone completely different

from the recent limerick thread, I summarised it as:

A handsome ex-soldier named Jay,
Turned to crime and he made it pay.
He took up with Daisy
Her husband went crazy
And Wilson then blew Jay away.

I read somewhere that someone (Maybe Ice Cube) was going to remake it in an urban/hip hop setting. Now this isn’t a parody rather a remake, but I thought you might find it interesting.

How about in the style of old 1950’s detective movies? You can have a private eye try to figure things out with only the information that the book ends with.
Or you can stick them all in modern day LA. C’mon…there’s endless possibilities! Daisy on Prozac, the narrator with a neurotic Woody Allen complex…

Does anyone have an author whom, if I were to re-write “The Great Gatsby” in their style, would create a hilarious parody?

(I’m leaning towards either Ernest Hemingway or Bulwer-Lytton.)

Noam Chomsky.

James Joyce?

I might do Chomsky, but I’d rather not do a 900-page version of “The Great Gatsby”, so Joyce is out.
