Does anyone have a living room table similar to one of these? Whether or not you do, do you notice interesting/potentially problematic things about them?
Don’t you want it to match the rest of your living room furniture in terms of color, wood species, etc.? If not, I don’t think it matters which one you pick.
Do you need a lift-top table? Do you think you will open it up often? I’m unsure how much storage they have or if that’s important to you.
Are you going to be buying this from amazon or is that just the easiest place for the pics? Is it coming to you pre assembled? Or is it going to be flat-packed and you put it together. Those pop up tops have some, eh, relatively (relative to the weight of the table top) strongish springs in the arms but they are balanced to be easy to use as long as the table is oriented correctly(movers really don’t like those tables very much).
Most of the people I’ve known that had them said they didn’t actually use the pop up top at all like they thought the would. They’re good for storing a few games or puzzles under the table top, or quite a bit of sheet music.
I would expect that the lift-up section will be rarely, or almost never, actually used in the open position. If you want a coffee table that let’s you hide a lot of clutter that you want to have in the living room (old remotes, pet toys, magazines), #7 is probably best. The baskets help keep stuff organized.
If you want shelves to put books on, then the one that matches your decor is the best.
We have a large-ish coffee table with a lower shelf, and a small portion of the lower shelf is used for remotes we don’t use much, DVDs that are being watched (sitting there for more than 6 months, I think) and dust.
First decide what you want the coffee table to do, then decide if such a coffee table is the best choice.
I might want a table similar to that except that it would have drawers instead of that odd
lifting top. That way I could get to the contents of the drawers without having to remove everything from the top of the table.
Are you planning on using the fold out/up table to make it easier to eat off of it from a couch? Make sure your couch is high enough for that to be practical.
We just bought all new living room furniture. Including a coffee table. The one we got has 4 big ass drawers in it that work perfect for us (sorry no link). We took our old coffee table and made it our gaming table. We play a lot of chess and cribbage.
